I'm just about to lay my money down today. I'm trying to deterimine my initial out of pocket amount for the 100b. I have a very tight budget but would like to go with EVS if I can afford to.

thanks

I bought mine at EVS this week and it was $3440.00. This included the DVX user discount but I paid with a credit card. If you pay with cash I was told you get an additional $100 reduction, but I wanted the miles on my card.

The other thing is that EVS cameras do not come with Barry's book in the box. I was told by Panasonic after the fact that some dealers are given cameras with the book, DVD and magic Bullet so if this is important to you I would find one who sells with the book and extras in the box. I would have bought someplace else had I known about this because I really need the book and DVD!

I have seen that others here have gotten really Good package deals from B&H. I tried to get a tripod and wanted a Pelican case with my camera but EVS was only willing to take off $8.00 which I knew I could do much better at some place else.

Right. No US product includes the book & DVD in the box anymore; Panasonic Japan changed the way they ship the cameras out to the dealers, they now go direct from the factory to the dealer instead of stopping first in a Panasonic US warehouse (where the book & dvd & magic bullet used to be inserted into the box). So now all DVX100B's instead need to file for the rebate online, at which point they'll send you the book, DVD, and Magic Bullet Editors software and a $400 rebate check.

If any dealers have any with the book/dvd still in the box, those are probably leftover from before the changeover was made.

Barry,

I defer to your experience in this matter but I was told by Ms. Goodwin that dealers are still getting cameras with books. Since you wrote the book you should know better than her but she should not be telling people this. She told me this on the phone yetsreday

As far as going to the website to register, it does not work. The site will not accept my zipcode as valid and not allow me to complete the form or accept it and I can't get them to return my call about this. I'm not worried about the money. I can live for the next ten years without the $400.00 but I can't use the camera to its fullest without Barry's great book and DVD!

Not sure who Ms. Goodwin is, but the info I'm giving you is what I've been told, so I assume (!) it's accurate.

There are not two classes of dealers, instead there's probably dealers who have sold out of all their old stock, and dealers who haven't. Those who haven't still have the book/dvd units, those who have sold out of their old stock and are receiving new shipments won't have it in the box.

Regarding registering for the rebate, contact Jan directly and she may be able to assist. crittendenj at us-dot-panasonic-dawt-com.
