Frame duplication or "stutter" problem on long clips

So I noticed this problem recently when recording longer clips (over the 1 minute mark or so) where I get a couple frames that literally duplicate themselves and produce a "stutter" in the clip. Unfortunately I can't pull a clip to post online at the moment. But I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same problem as well?

I'm using the Delkin film epro 16gb sdhc class 6 cards with the hmc. Not sure if that's an issue at all.

I searched around to see if anyone else had a similar problem, but I couldn't come up with any results.

I've noticed a couple of weird jumps and glitches. Only when I haven't transcoded to another format. I just had a strange one that would play fine on the timeline, but every time I output to say wmv or flv, it will jump in the same spot like it is skipping then repeating some frames. I guess all the high compression, but you would think it would happen more right on the timeline then the output.

Never noticed it with my clips , but sometimes with realy short clips less then 8secs or so I do get some artifacting. Somewhere in the manuals it says its best to record for 10 secs or more.

I believe it has something to do with the compression method looking for motion.
I bet you in happens with clips that dont change much . For example waterripples or a person just standing in one postion and just moving sligtly.
It drives me mad to unless you were editing something fast and funky :)

I'll bet you a nickel that this has nothing to do with the camera-original footage. I've noticed in PP 4.1 that occasionally it duplicates frames, it appears to be a bug in the way the codec handles the on-the-fly decode.

I've never seen any duplication or glitching in camera-original footage as played back from the camera. But I have seen examples of it on the timeline, in Vegas and Premiere Pro. AVCHD is still a relatively new format and I don't think the editing companies have perfected handling it yet.

Next time you see it, try playing the footage back in the camera and look for it, I bet you it won't be there, because the camera knows how to play the footage back properly.

I've been playing around with my footage in Corel Pro X2 i've never seen this happen with stuff shot in 25p but I get all sorts of funky stuff happening when I import a 720/50p clip. I assume it just wont support 50p footage.

you're right. That was actually the first thing I checked in fear that my camera was having problems. It's something during the transcoding process that's screwing it up somewhere. Any ideas?

I'm using FCP 6.0.4.

I'm using FCP 6.0.6; I've looked very carefully at long clips around the 4GB mark (played them from 10-12 minutes all the way up to 30 or more just to be sure) and I've never seen this problem. When I first got the camera, I was using 6.0.5, and didn't see it then, either. Both of my 150s have the latest firmware, also, if that makes a difference.
