Format Mixing Question

I was filming with my friend this weekend and we were both using DVX's. I was shooting above the surface and my friend was shooting below at a pool. Although we both have anamorphic lenses, the housing he has isnt compatable with it. We failed to shoot the underwater stuff in squeeze, and now I have anamorphic footage and 4:3 footage and I need to mix them on a timeline. This topic has been danced around but i have yet to find a concise answer. Does anyone have any ideas????

FCP 5. I would be fine with having the 4:3 stuff cropped on an anamorphic sequence but i dont know how to cut the top and bottom OFF rather than just adding black bars.

I don't knwo FCP, but basicaly: make a 16:9 timeline.
he anamorphic stuff should be correct automatically.
then bring in your 4:3 footage. - if it adds bars to teh sides (pillarbox) then you will ned to manuall zoom in the footage untill it fills the 16:9 screen (and therfor crop off the top and bottom.

Someone with FCP knowledge can probably give you step-by-step on how to do it.
