From among the cameras announced or out, pick your favorite that you can afford. Is it enough K for you?

If not, imagine that you could add another 1K of resolution for $1,000 (or another 10% of the price, whichever is more). How much K would you be willing to pay for your camera to have, total?

I voted 4K, and I don't need it to be oversampled. 4K from the a7S+shogun is already sharper than I want. Even after mild cropping for reframing, I'd probably add lots of diffussion to most shots (at 1080p I just just a bit of sharpening, and not always). And for green screen, making sure the framing is good in the first place would make it good enough as well.

The majority of my deliverables are 1920x1080, so a 4K or 5K camera works well for acquisition. I'm looking at purchasing a used Sony F65 early next year, which should last me a few seasons. After that, who knows.

4K is the sweet spot, as it allows me to deliver 4K products and allows me to oversample/recrop. 2.5K would give me the later but I can't deliver 4K shall I need it later.

4K is the sweet spot really, 9 mega-pixels motion images, for both quality and storage balance.

4K is my sweet spot while HD is my usual delivery. Once 4K deliver is my clients demand then 8K would be my choice. The freedom to crop/re-frame a closeup out of a master shot is something I don't want to give up. Also getting caught in a situation with a lens that is wider than desired I know I can adjust in post to make the most of it. If I was shooting Narrative it wouldn't be as big of a deal to me but in situation when I can't control everything the post freedom is invaluable. Another tool for the tool box.

And you lose two stops in terms of DoF (shoot f/2 if you will crop 1:2 and want the DoF of f/4).
