For Barry Green - Battery Powered FW Drive

So this drive would enable the HVX to operate in "host mode" and do a transfer w/verification, right?

what about recording direct-to-disk, like with the firestore? wouldn't that work with a regular FW400 drive or are there no 7200 2.5" HD's available?

Nope.

This device can be used in the host mode to copy p2 data.

The firestore will capture directly for most formats.

Good job! These things are harder to locate than an HVX going unclaimed on a dealers shelf! You should get a prize...

Perhaps we can convince Jan that this warrants some favoritism.

Would firewire work for PC also ? Isnt USB 2.0 faster than Firewire ? For PC users, which one is better ?

I have it, I tested it with the Hitachi TravelStar.

And it works, but... the battery's too small! Battery gave out after maybe five cards. So it'll work in a pinch, and it takes about 5 minutes to offload a 4GB card (about 7 with verify) but with only the battery capacity to last for maybe five cards it's of limited value.

Is the included battery 'the last word'? I mean, would you care to post its exact measures here. The specs in the website only say "DC3.6V, 800mAh, Li-ion Battery".
I'm pretty sure that a more performant battery is available on the market, that fits into the housing.

The included battery is about an inch by two inches, IIRC. If someone wants to find a battery that lasts four times as long and works with it, I'd be glad to try it. As it is right now I think it's of limited value.

usb copy confirmation ??

usb copy confirmation ??

Hi,

Is there anyone with an HVX 200 living close to this location willing to check this product out? I think it might allow you to confirm copy of HVX files over usb to a battery powered usb hard drive.

Barry, would you mind posting a pic of that battery here or email it?

Thanx Barry, I'll have a look with my battery supplier and talk to him what he can do.

Best, Pe.

Would it be possible to find an enclosure that I could attach an Anton Bauer adaptor to, and run it off that power. Im sure it would just need a power conditioner/regulator of some sort in line. If it can run my monitor why not my Hard Drive. Any ideas? In a perfect world Id design a 9inch 16/9 touch screen Hd field monitor with a built in Host Hard drive and a slot to plug in aP2 card. Come to think of it - it sounds like a modified small tablet PC.
