Football Game footage

It's absolutely impossible to evaluate anything at all with a compression like this. You should try to export a quicktime or an mpeg2 and post it at rapidshare, savefile or one of these free upload sites.
 
It isn't impossible to evaluate the style of the peice, surly the quality of the camcorder would be impossible to asses, but what about the content?
 
I'de love to see the raw footage or whateva. By the way, who won? I live right by Alta and love their team. They are truly amazing this year.

the A1 seems to have more problems with highlights than the dvx. is there a way, with the settings of the A1 (cinegamma, knee, ....), to obtain the same look as the dvx?
 
It's not the problems with highlights, but simply camera exposure. A1 footage is much brighter overall and points directly in the ceiling lights, while it looks like DVX was AE shifted -1 or set manually to lower exposure. AE Shift -1 on A1 would produce similar tone as DVX there.

The contents still requires some editing touch imo, but it's very good. Thanks for posting it Chris.
 
The exposure on the a1 was right on. The DVX operator forgot that the ND filter was on and was shooting with 9-12 gain for the whole scene.

You can't tell from the compression but the DVX was noisy as well in comparison.

The compression also failed to retain detail in highlights, but the raw footage slaughters the DVX (Some of the quality issues were operator error.) I couldn't believe it the comparisons though.

By the way, I have no way to verify this but to my eye the XHA1 has more dynamic range than the orginal DVX100. I have no current way to quantify this, but I seem to get more details in high contrast shooting.

This was one of the first things that I shot with the Canon, and with the bright stadium light I noticed light streaking (is that what it is called) and I don't ever remeber the DVX doing it, but upon reviewing footage the DVX actually had significantly more.


By the way that wasn't the final cut, still working on it (Comcast is going to air it nationally in two days)

Prodigywookie, Bingham ended up winning, it was a tight race to the end. Very fun.
