Football Coverage in HD

So I shot some scrimmage footage this weekend. I shot 1080i at 60fps and also 720p 60. I make NFL films video for high school teams. I am shooting with the Firestore. I got back to the edit suite. Eye popping footage to start it off was exciting, but I was interested what I need to do as far as getting the footage correct with the slo-motion. I took the 720 in to HD Frame rate in FCP 6.0 and set it to 30 frames. The slo-motion was awsome and I even down converted to SD format. Thursday I shoot the 1st game I am just pumped to shoot this season.

Just thanks for the people who gave some advice. I will post some hd football footage soon.

We've been doing this with the FS100 and p2 cards for DIII football.

It is nice stuff. Actually shot the St. Johns/Whitworth College DIII playoff game.

Do you guys run around the sidelines with an HVX200 and a Firestore? I shoot for the Falcons and did this on Monday night - by the end of the game, I was about ready to fall over I was so tired. Of course, I've got a lot of gear attached to it as well, including a monopod for shot support, but nonetheless... curious what kind of tricks you guys came up with for support.

I would imagine with just one camera and something as fast moving as players you're best bet would be to use zoom where ever possible. Take wide shots and zoom in when necessary. Ideally you need a crane so that the push toward the players will be smooth and a bit faster.
