Footage missing when trying to transfer to comp.

I'm shooting a film right now, and just finished in one location and went to another. My DP went to transfer the footage from the CF card to a Macbook Pro, and when he connected through a CF card reader, nothing appeared on the card. He reconnected and then there were a few unreadable files. Again, and there was the footage folder, but no footage. He put it back into the camera, and it read no data. We know it recorded when we shot, because we played it back. Are the files just hidden, or are we SOL with a corrupted card?

You *might* be SOL, but I would try directly connecting the camera to the computer and see if there is something readable, though I'm thinking the card was corrupted in the time between removing it from the camera and not having anything show up on the computer. Either camera corrupted it, hardware was somehow screwed up when taken out and plugged into the reader, reader killed it, or computer killed it. I doubt the macbook pro is a culprit though.
