Footage from the office

Wow- that looks great though a bit of jellovision at times. I can never tell if that's just Vimeo or the camera. Very nice composition as well.

You could download the 720p Quicktime and give that a look.
It's at the bottom right of the page as long as you are logged in.

EDIT: Which I just did. The Jell-O is definitely there.

Can I ask a stupid question? I know what the "jello" is supposed to be, but I'm never entirely sure when I see it...I downloaded Taubkin's 720 QT...where is it?

Nice music choice, BTW. My fav version of that song.

Also, I don't know what kind of "work" you do there, but all I saw was a lot of goofing off...:)

I'm assuming it's the rippling effect I see during motion. The opening pan shows it quite clearly. Like waves....

Vimeo looks rock solid in comparison actually. Much tougher to spot for me. Clear as day on the quicktime though. Must be something that Vimeo does when converting it.

Noah, what your video shows is skew...I thought that was a separate issue from "jello," and different than what Mike was describing...

Though it makes me miss london to see Traitor's Gate...

Looking good!
But you´ve got a pretty stuffed office there, hope the airconditioning never fails you

Whoa! Yah, that link is far different from what I'm seeing in the office link.

Does anyone else see the rippling effect during the opening pan in the Office QT? It's very obvious.

Now what is the term for that?

Thanks guys. Yeah, it's hard to avoid the Jello when handholding it. It's easy to disguise it when we are doing some cuts like those, but for carefully rehearsed handheld shots, it might be tough...

It's a production company for web/interactive video projects. I'm a director here, and still work as a freelance DP from time to time. Sometimes we get some work done around here, too... :D

Didn't notice any ripples, what exactly are you talking about?

Cheers!

Yeah, definitely jello. When you vibrate a skewy camera, you see jello. Lot's of it. Worse drawback of the camera so far IMHO.

Okay, thanks. Seems there is a lot of confusion about what Jello actually is. I thought the 1:18 was what people were originally talking about.

It's caused by nothing more than skew, but it makes the image wobble because the movement is so fast and erratic. That's Jello. :D

BTW- dude that looks like a way crowded workspace. Any chance of getting your own office?
