Follow focus unit for 5d/7d?

Was just wondering what follow focus unit was a decent price and seems to be the favorite out there for 7d/5d?

My buddy has a dv-tek hand held rig and a chorizel follow focus system with some red rock rings to help the gear engage....It honestly is amazing and works really well but the "chorizel" element was really expensive. Just wondering what most people are using?

I was just trying to see if there was anyone out there that has something they can strongly recommend and send me some links to see online?

Checkout the Shoot35 Cinefocus & the Redrock v3 (due for release in July hopefully!), personally I have avoided the Redrock v2 as it has an RC gearbox - not a custom one - though many have said it is great!

The Shoot35 was great for me, especially as I am based in the UK. Solid unit with backlash adjustment, feels great in the hand - Wayne and the gang have made a real winner.

I have been using the redrock micro follow focus v2 for a while now (I was using the v1 before that) and it's pretty awesome. The v3 follow focus and the wireless follow focus will be amazing though. Can't wait!

you might want to hang fire until this ships and reviews

I have a Zacuto and just recently got a Cinevate Durus for another setup. Both are very good but I think the Cinevate right now impresses me because of its ability to do so many configurations. I guess it depends on your rails or rig setup as well.

Either way they both are very good and totally worth the money.

I own two follow focus units, one is made by Shoot35 (SGBlade) which I use with my Blade and 5D, I also bought a PROAIM follow focus off eBay. They are made in India to a high standard. The Shoot35 unit cost £400 with whip, speed crank and 1 x gear. The Indian PROAIM unit cost £260 delivered, was bundled with 6 x gears, speed crank and whip.

Overall, the Shoot35 unit looks more flashy, is well built and works well. The PROAIM unit is very good value, well made and works well.

I'd go with the PROAIM, saved £150, loads of free stuff, works the same, does what is says on the tin.

Both units work with my SGBlade and with my 5D, both on 15mm rails..

RRM is solid and has a nice BIG wheel. Also, the quick release mounting dealio is way better than the other setup. Me likey!

Check this mod out I did to the Proaim/Cinecity FF (sorry about the crappy iPhone images):

Umm, don't mean to be nit-picking, but do you realize that all of your pictures showing off your follow-focus are out-of-focus?

There is a strange humor there...

No he's added another gear in order to reverse the rotation on the barrel for Nikon lenses, which have a reverse focus throw to the Canon lenses.

Nice. An idler gear for Nikon lenses?

Yeah. Works like a charm. Smooth and about as much play as the RRM FF. I used the Proaim/Cinecity gear they provided and just built a much better mounting for it because even though they basically copied the RRM reversing gear add-on, they used a soft metal for the mount and I took one look at it and knew it'd never work.

Good point.

Has anyone tried the indiefocus ff. I heard its not the best but it is cheap.

Is there a big difference between the 15mm and 19mm follow focus? Is the 15mm ff for dslr's and the 19mm ff for other camera's (ie the RED)? Is there any advantage to getting the 19mm?
