AC160 Follow Focus not practical?

I assume that purchasing a follow focus for my AC160 would be pointless, as it's not really moving the glass. The reason I ask is because someone asked me why I don't have one and apparently my reason didn't make sense.

If you have a need for someone else to pull focus - wired or wirelessly - then a follow focus makes perfect sense. Or, if you want a way to pull focus from the side of the camera with fixed markings and such, that's another good reason.

The focus on Panasonic's handheld cameras - going back to the DVX - is about as repeatable as you can get without having a fully mechanical lens. It works, lots of folks around here have used follow focus on the HVX, DVX, HMC cameras for years.
