Follow Focus Issue with 7d 50mm 1.4

Alvise : Can you please explain how either of these solutions would solve my problem. The reverse gear would make the point of contact higher and therefore require me to use the microriser which I am pretty sure you just said was a bad idea due to the standard height of camera to rails and other accessories....

And then the new gear box looks no different than the original in size, unless I am not seeing the difference from pictures. I am not disagreeing with you, but would just like some clarification on why these options would work.

Thanks.

I had same problems. RRFF v1 and nikkor 50f1.4 aren't a perfect match (although I can get away with it. Simply RR FF gear has to be staggered a little over RR lens gear).

1) Forget the GEARBOX. I'm talking about GEAR DRIVES (the one who touch the lens gear)
2) RRFF v1 has a smaller diameter gear than RRFF v2.
3) You can buy the new gear (bigger diameter and RR states also smaller footprint). Beeing the gear diameter bigger, you're bulky GEARBOX will be more distant from rods, therefore can be pushed back a little more, matching more easily short lenses focus gear.
4) You can buy reverse gear. As this gear match the one on the lens at a higher point, you're bulky gearbox will be more distant from rods, therefore can be pushed back a little more, matching more easily short lenses.
5) Beware that RRFF reverse gear ONLY works with newer gear (the one on RRFF v2) so you have to buy that as well!!

If I'm not clear, I suggest you send an email to B.Valente. He should write about HIS products in better english than me:thumbsup:

Cheers.
