Follow Focus for GH1

I produce professional videos with my GH13 for promotional/informational and event work (mainly) with a sprinkling of other productions. I am considering using a follow focus. I''m wondering what follow focuses you use, if you use them, or if you find them unnecessary. Also if there's a follow focus solution that does not require a rail system, which I'm currently not using.

I've heard good things about the very inexpensive D|Focus.

I will ask additional question..
Does anyone tried these with Ultra compact rig? (http://www.indisystem.com/products/ultra_compact).
Are they compatible?

Can't vouch for the ultra compact rig, but another vote for the d-focus - great kit. The gear rings are ok too.
