Flying the 7D

Flying a Red with that would be wicked! Keep us updated with any footage you shoot. I'm sure you will get work with this!

You may want to check out the MikroKopter - HexaKopter.

Looks to be much more stable and easier to fly than a regular RC chopper.
Carries 1.3KG + ie should be good for the T2i and possibly the 7D.
And the HexaKopter has failsafe - ie it can fly with one engine gone: http://vimeo.com/8784171

BTW, there are many autonomous RC chopper systems being developed that let you concentrate on the filming.

Nice work there. You need to do a little more research if you want to carry the Red one. The lightest we have been able to get the Red (or 35mm film cameras) on our Helicam's is just under 15 lbs. For safety's sake your rig needs to be able to have that amount of payload in reserve or 30 lbs. of total payload capacity for maneuvering.

You can't cheat the laws of physics. Small platforms, even with electronic stabilization are not as stable as those with more mass. Electronic stabilization is still subject to a hysteresis effect, meaning it must detect a movement and then react to it at the penalty of some delay. It is always better to never have moved at all! We have machines ranging in weight from 3 lbs. to 45 lbs. When the wind is blowing, guess which ones gets flown. Mother nature rarely cuts you a break when you really need one.

Yes, we don't want the little RC man inside RC copter to be in a crash.

The MikroKopteris really amaing and very affordable ! wow ..... you can basically program it to follow a route via GPS waypoints. And you can carry your VDSLR too ;)
