Flat Coloring?

I have been working with the t2i lately trying to get some decent footage but I notice that alot of the coloring seems flat (very little detail) compared to the pictures it takes. I have the CS4 master suite and have been using premiere pro to export video in .h264 format. Today was the first day using After Effects to try and color correct. My question is should I being fixing more color issues in post? Or is their something i should adjust on my camera? i believe it is set to standard in the menu.

Well, Phil Bloom recommends setting the cam to look flat, then getting the look you want with DI.

I'm no Phil Bloom, but to me, if the color isn't there to start, it's hard to put back in. Also, if you're under time restraints, DI isn't fun.

I jack the saturation all the way up, and move the contract up two steps above the middle setting.

Now I went through and tested every possible combination/ Took a few hours, but I was happy I did.

Thanks man I will try shooting with those, Editing in post is not really much of an option for me since PP owns my laptop... so I want to try to shoot the best footage I can from the get go.

Well, that's my feeling as well - If I can keep DI down to a minimum, I'll do it. That said, I love rich colors - even if it looks a bit unreal.
