Flashing Red X icon left of timecode?

I've been getting this red x that flashes just to the left of my timecode when I'm shooting recently. I can't find anything in the manual about it, does anybody know what's wrong?

that happened to me, but it was because someone bumped the cam as it was recording and the tape got moved off of the head, just enough to mess it up. all i did was pulled the tape out and put it back in. The tape was realigned on the heads and it was good to go, but man I was terrified.
