First time with the HMC-150 & Glidecam...

Cheers for the info and the good thing is that it works and isn't several grand and then if ya want you can get the vest and such. I believe it'll have a gig that it will work for itself and then justify the purchase.

Do you use it with a monitor or the cam LCD? Mount any other elements?

I use the cam lcd with a petrol lcd hood. For really long shots, 10 sec plus, you'd probably need a monitor.
FYI : Someone metioned that the HD 2000 would do just fine with the hmc 150.

A monitor is great but not necessary. The only way to know if you have to have one is to give it a shot.

is the glide cam basically just a monopod cut off with weights on the bottom to deaden out the jerky? i tried just picking my heavy tripod with the camera on it and it seemed to lessen the jerky quite a bit but don't think I could do a whole shoot like that...
