C100: First shoot tomorrow: 24 Mbps or 24 Mbps LPCM?

As the title says which one should I use. I have 6 important interviews to shoot and need to know which option to choose?
Thanks

Drew.

24 Mbps LPCM is what I would use...actually, it's all I ever use. WideDR at 29.97 and I expose just a scootch hot.

Thanks chaps. I'm in Pal Land and using a Ninja 2 and shooting 25p. I just wanted to make sure I chose the correct 24Mbps bitrate setting.

+1 It's really not that hard.

reason not using PS 30/24

1. time is money, and when you have a contract editor, they tend to mess around

2. I find it a little bit laggy to edit compare to ordinary 24p (not seriously tested)

why not stick with 24p unless 30p is a requirement of the project ?

I'm using Pal 25p.

Btw my question has nothing to do with frame rate. I asked about bitrate and the two 24 Mbps options.

I've just recently started shooting with LPCM but find that on my Windows 7 machine, neither Quicktime nor Windows Media player can play the audio on the raw files in the AVCHD format. Once I import them into any NLE it all is fine. Anyone know the reason why? Is there an update to WMP that allows it to understand LPCM? It appears that I am on the latest and greatest. Or is there something I'm just not doing right by simply opening the files? The non LPCM footage plays fine.

I was having the same trouble with Windows Media Player. The audio plays fine in VLC Player, which is free to download, so I've been using that for previewing my files before going into the NLE.

I've also been using VLC. However, VLC does a crappy job of playing the video! It looks much better on the silent WMP. Anyone know a safe site for downloading the LPCM codec without getting all that unwanted garbage that comes with just about every download these days? Thanks.

If you are editing this yourself and have tested out the editing workflow I would agree. However, if you are handing this off to be edited I would make sure the editor has experience with these type files (30PsF) or provide them with some test files before the shoot. The 24 LPCM seems to be the best quality for audio.

I've just handed off 150GB of 24 LPCM 30PsF footage to a group I don't know...we'll see how they handle it. They said they are up for it...I certainly hope they are.

I hope they are as well. Like Dusty said, it is not difficult, but if the timetable is rushed and they do have problems, well...... the stuff does roll downhill.
