First HVX Tech issue...bad 1394 port?

Hello forum...

So I recently encountered my first technical problem with my beloved HVX200 and was wondering if anyone had any advice or input to offer.

I'm having trouble using my camera as a USB/1394 Device and connecting to my FS100. Every time I connect to offload, I get the old "[USB/]1394 Device Disconnect" and am unable to establish any communication with the computer. I've worked through this issue in the past (I've done this kind of offload a million times now) but can't seem to get through it now. Today I used the FS100 for the first time in about a month and she won't connect to the HVX either.

Thinking back, I remember noticing the port seemed a bit loose on a previous shoot - that is, all of a sudden the 1394 cable was easily able to slide in and out of the port. What can I do about this? Is it definitely a bum 1394 port, or could there be something else? Argh!?

Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks!!!

no. i was initially confused over the frame rate setting thing and tried it both ways at first, but its in standard 720p/24p mode. it shouldnt be in pN mode, right? because pN cant be transmitted via firewire? or am i completely wrong?

I'm actually having the same problem right now. Although I haven't used my HVX200a much up till now, I have done a few shoots with an FS100 and worked wonderfully. Now, all of a sudden I can't get my cam to recognize when the FS100 is connected. I get the same message Mike gets.

Anyone have an idea on what might be the problem? I seriously hope its not a bum 1396 port because I live in Argentina, and everything costs more and takes longer down here...
