switching from hdv, this was our first all dslr exclusive. i would love feedback, comments, critics are welcome, anything!! 3 camera set-up, 7D flying on merlin with 11-16 2.8, t2i for main and another t2i for close-ups/secondary. 30mm 1.4, 50mm 1.8. all 1080/24p, however 720p on vimeo (24p). all indoor steadicam shots were 1250 ISO, t2i 400 - 800.

It's all in the EDITING, I think your editing is what made the video. Really great, good job!

If I were to knock anything it would have been to clearly establish who the Bride and Groom are. Also it would have been nice to end the video in Black and White how you started it.

Overall though I give it a B+ with an A being perfect

peace

Excellent video! There where many creative shots i.e the guys taking of the jackets or putting on their hats. Love the pull back from under the veil!

Technically it's a bit choppy here and there and some micro jitter from handheld camera but all in all excellent. How did that Merlin work for you?

yes, yes I agree lots and lots of room for improvement, and thats actually a good idea w/ b&w ending...dang it. B+/A?? Wow thanks!! I was really worried of how everything will go with DSLR, and it was our first time shooting in 24p, believe it or not the day before the wedding (at the rehearsal) is when we decided to try out 24p and loved it....

Thanks!! as far as some "choppiness" goes, I noticed that too with vimeo, its nowhere to be seen in original...perhaps the handheld shots I agree, but overall the render looks a lot smoother on my comp compared to vimeo. The merlin guy is used to shooting at 30p, but generally 80% of the shots he took are still usable, and I'm impressed.

fantastic!

been playing with the 7D on the merlin, works great (had to pull it back out of storage, use it on our 100b's but the HVX200 was too heavy)

yes the merlin is awesome!! only problem is that the DSLR (unlike camcorders like the 100b) has no pin for the plate, just a single screw...and that creates a problem. The balance needs to be adjusted very often, sometimes as often as right after a fly! If anyone has figured something out to solve this problem, I would love to hear it!

Is the flash frame at 1:31 intended? I hope not, it really bugs me.

Apart from that, GREAT work! Did weddings myself with the HPX500; documentary style. But I should really try to do it more filmic with my 550d, like you did.

WOW, what an eye! I just opened up the edit and noticed I had a blank frame didnt extend the clip (rings) far enough... oh, well I gotta make the ending b&w too thanks to Cieloent's suggestion... that means gotta rerender and upload. fun.

Great video. Liked all the Merlin shots. Was a dolly used anywhere?
I have an old SteadyCam-Jr that I haven't used in years. I have to give it a try with my new T2i.

Thanks! No dolly, but a glidetrack was used very rarely. Only problem was that it's bent, it fell into a subway track (with the tripod) in our previous shoot and from the whole meter, less than a quarter of it was usable. There was no time to order a new one, so I ended up using what I could even though it wasn't much. Our guy flying the merlin says the DSLR combo is awesome, way better than a heavy hdv cam on it.

aituv, great job. the editing is definitely awesome.

what did you use for the low light situation like at night? did you find the t2i did the it's job? settings?
