Firestore Setting?

I just received this email response from Focus. I explained I had a HVX-200.

"The settings to record DVCRPO HD with QuickTime PN as the format is:

Camera: Set camera to either 720/24pn or 720/30pn
FS-100: Set HDD Mode to DVCPRO HD and DV Format to QuickTimePN
Final Cut Pro: Set settings to either DVCRPO HD 720/24 or DVCRPO HD 720/30"

I replied "It is my understanding that the HVX 200 does not send info out the firewire when set to "n" mode.

They replied " If the FS-100 does not have the 3.0 upgrade, then yes, the FS-100 will not support the "PN" modes. You have a firestore with the upgrade that is capable of performing the recorded optional task"

Does this mean I can record to the Firestore pn clips? I'm confused.

You are right, they are flat out wrong. You can't set the camera to a PN mode and record through a DV connection.

You set the FS-100 to Native mode (either P2 or QuickTime), but the HVX stays in regular, non-native mode. What you end up with is the exact same file you'd have gotten shooting Navtive mode to a P2 card. They actually were correct if you read what they said carfully. You actually can get pN on an FS-100 with the 3.0 upgrade.

I read that pretty carefully again and to me that is incorrect.

So then what is the answer????
I just posted asking the same question before i found this one....

Do not set to native at all.
