Firestore question

Well, sort of. You could play it from the HVX and capture it to the FS, but that's not quite the same thing.

Or, you could use the 1394 host mode to transfer, but that would be disastrous as it would mean formatting your Firestore's hard disk.
 
so if I understand correctly, if you're a run and gun type, and some of the time you want to just use P2 because you don't want to be loaded down with the firestore, then the better solution would be the P2 store?

And a follow-up if I may - I think I've read that the transfer times from P2 store to mac are hideous. Any hope on the horizon for that to improve?
 
It will change if Apple changes its hardware or firmware implementation of USB2 or the p2 Store adopts a FW interface.

To me, at least, it's how fast the downloads occur in the field.
 
If you could enlighten me - how long does it take in the field to download a full 8gb p2 to the p2 store?

Also how long to download same from p2 store to mac once you're back in the studio or wherever?

In the field, it is about 1 GB per minute.

People are reporting that speed when connecting to the Mac, and triple that speed when connecting to the Mac.

I'd love to do some testing.
