Firestore Nightmare...What else can I try?

Clips worked as normal as far as the video was concerned. Audio dropouts occurred in any/all playback windows I used (FCP, P2CMS, etc.).

No music or vibration where the footage was lost. It was only audio that was lost, for the most part, and only on certain clips and always in the same place.

Some software nastiness.

I just completed a 2 day shoot with the HVX-FS-100 combo and had a few issues with a few small files at the beginning which were really just to test the tapeless camera control of the FS-100. I switched to bars while rolling and it caused a corrupt file and because of that, I couldn't import the "Contents" folder. I had to manually copy the video and audio files to a new folder deleting the first few corrupt files. I then learned that it is critical to set-up the same file structure of having 6 sub folders open under the Contents folder so the clip/xml data can tell FCP which audio to access. I'm not sure if that could be an issue for your situation. Just sharing.

Thanks Jim.

I tried something similar so I'm not sure it would have helped me with my problem - but it's probably good that you outlined your steps in case (when) it happens to someone else.

Just a thought but you might want to look into the nNovia HD Recording system. I have one and from all I've read, the nNovia is much more rugged (shock protected) and much less problems than the FireStore.

However, this is my first time posting here in a long time and I don't shoot HD yet. I'm currently reading up on the new Panny AG-HMC150, AG-HPX170 and the HVX200A. Just bought a MBP and FCE. Thinking of upgrading all my computers to Macs.
