sure
when u work in 1080pa on hvx and record the files as QT in Firestore you'll get a warning message after importing the files into FCP. it says "media performance warning, the files are not optimized for FCP...re-import or re-capture your file..."
this is known issue - i guess- and stated on Focus web site.
does this affect the quality of the video if we ignore the warninG?
have u had any experience?
I had a similar experience with a Firestore last year (with an older upgrade). Basically, if you look at a FCP movie file (QT icon but red and white), that is an optimized QT file. If you use the setting on the Firestore to record good ol' Quicktime (a blue and white icon in a file folder), those files are NOT optimized for Final Cut Pro. There's an upgrade for the Firestore to record in P2 format. You then import the files as P2 files from the Firestore just as you would if the HVX was hooked up to the computer with P2 cards in it, or card reader, whatever. I didn't have major problems with the files when I got that warning, it does seem though that FCP would periodically crash because some of the regular QT files were quite long. Ever since the P2 upgrade, I've never had that problem. I hated using the QT recording option on the Firestore, you should check out the P2 upgrade...
we have to use the QT format for our workflow and the FS has the version 4.0.
I shoot one hour long 1080pa QT movie. FCP plays back fine. no crash at all.
i wrote the Focus support regarding this, i'll let you know
and i tried to record the file as P2 format in firestore as u suggested. then I realized that the compressor of the file turned to 1080p30 in FCP after Removing pull-down. In QT format it always stays on 1080i60p after removing of the redundant frames.
