The camera can't control the firestore, but you can use the camera's LCD to view the firestore footage. Make sure the camera is in the same recording format as the clips you want to view (i.e., both are in 720/60p etc), then put the camera in MCR mode and turn off the thumbnails. Then play the clips on the firestore and they should show up on the HVX's LCD.

my FCP doesent recognise my hvx when i try to play back footage via 1394 only if its in dv mode, is there a way i can see my footage through my mac?

Yes but you have to set the HVX to the same mode as the timeline. Then turn the thumbnails off. At that point it'll output the firewire stream back to the HVX and you can record it.

As David said, it won't pass the high-def stream through to a high-def monitor though.

I have been testing the Matrox MXO for about a week with good results.

FCP sequence out of Fujitsu 50 inch plasma and Samsung 32-inch LCD via component is impressive for 720p/24.

Also works with AE, Motion, and SoundTrack.
