.fir file updates

Just trying to get up to speed on how Canon updates
the firmware in their EOS cameras, mine a T3i and
not needing an update yet.

There are two files available for download for the
T2i. They are:

e8kr7109.exe ( Windows )
e8kr7109.dmg ( MacIntosh )

This is for update version 1.09 for the T2i. Since
I exclusively work in the Linux OS I can easily
extract the e8kr7109.fir file from the e8kr7109.exe.
Seems pretty simple then to copy that .fir file
to a newly camera formatted SD chip and let the
camera do the update. Sound ok?
 
Sounds perfect. Exactly what should be done. :)

*edit
of course i wouldnt apply a t2i firmware onto a t3i.. Dont know what the repercussions could be in doing so.
