Finding Amelia

That stuff was shot by another DP while I was involved with the expedition... The Electra was shot at the Navy air museum in Pensacola, Fl and the faux radio room was in Maryland some place. Don't recall that DP's name, he's in the credits though as the recreation DP . I did wind up shooting some other recreation elements in October as we were completing photography. The "re- cree" stuff is by far the least interesting stuff ( to me) out of the lot.

Whoa- I saw some of this show. Very well done!
It was mostly shot with 1/3" CMOS HPX370s?? You did a lot of the shooting?

The program includes material across a 21 year time span. A TIGHAR member shot the video 20 Years ago with a 8mm handicam. I cam e onboard in 2001 and started shooting with Betacam and DV, then switched to a HVX 200 in 2007 and an HPX 370 in 2010 with a 170 serving as the "risk cam" for shooting in conditions where if I lost a camera, it was going to be the 170.
This was my project, and I did most but not all the shooting. Some interviews, Burns, Crouch, Glickman, Brandenburg were shot while I was away on the expedition, same for the re-crees. There was a another shooter that arrived with the second ship for a few days during the expedition , which turned turned out to be a thorn in my side more than anything. There are a couple of B roll shots used from that camera, and part of a sequence with the ROV crew later in the show.
Its a complicated project due to the 20 year span of the story, and I feel honored to have been a part of it for so long. The expedition stuff work is brutal because of the conditions: 105 degrees, 85% humidity and generally very sunny. Because of space and budget constraints, Iwork by myself on the expeditions, camera- sound-media manager-producer-director- sherpa for carrying equipment. The conditions are tough but the people are really great to work with. I don't think I ever sweat so much or laughed so much in one 30 month period.

not sure but I think either HDX 900 or HPX2700. Much of the visual value in the Re-crees is provided by post treatment of the shots obviously.
