Hey, guys. I was finally able to get the full length version of TRANSITIONS uploaded. It's tough when you don't have the internet at your house.

"Lyrical TRANSITIONS" was a DVXuser Love Fest entry and is a unique story about 4 couples at 4 different phases of their relationships. Watch as they struggle with love, romance, sex, pain and hardache.

I look forward to all critiques. If the link doesn't work let me know or look under bassreeves1875.

I'm sick as a dog at the moment so I'll comment later tonight in more detail.

Short Review = WOW!

Excellent work. It looks really great as well.

Great job. Wonderful story and imaging. I really enjoyed your LoveFest entry and its great to see that you finished the other chapters. Keep up the good work!

Are you entering TimeFest?

Haven't got a chance to watch this yet, but after seeing your lovefest entry, I'm very anxious to see it.

Sorry I took so long to watch this. This was really good. In fact I think it even rivals the segment you used for drama fest. The stand out for me here was the last segment. It had a perfect blend of humor, cinematography, acting presence and voicework. The voicework... REALLY good. The guy was great. Perfect look. Perfect voice. The lady blew me away. Is she an actual spoken word artist? She was phenomenal. What an amazing voice. Was that dude's wifey also?

Loved the lighting. The venetian blinds are definitely where it's at. Blooming highlights, your use of negative space... It was almost too good. It's like a different DP shot that last part, man. I hate to say this, but now you gotta go back and rework the other segments so they can stand shoulder to shoulder with the last one. That's a compliment though. Are there some behind the scenes reasons for why the last one blew everything else away? It was seriously TV quality.

It's as shame we have to watch this on YouTube quality. Here's what I want you to do. Output an uncompressed avi. Not even compressed with the DV codec. Just a huge, lossless avi. Then compress it with the XVID codec at at least 2000kbps. The audio should be MP3 w/ at least 192kbps 44Khz.

Then upload that avi to vimeo.com. That's the new jumpoff. It will do your cinematography justice. In fact, they even host your avi, so users can download the non flash compressed version if they really like it.

Good job on this. Looking forward to more from you. Your rhymes are definitely on point.

Thanks for the excellent review, mentatDUKE! The last one is my favorite as well and it was actually the very first one that I wrote. None of the actors were spoken word artists, they just did their thing. The guy is actually my brother and I think this is the best performance he's ever given and that's my sis. in-law. The last segment is much more compelling, because it had more conflict in the dialogue and it was also the second to last thing that I shot. That's why it's at the end, because everything in front of it is sort of a lead up. Everything's just nice, nice in the relationship stages and even though they're all different couples, it's also as if they're one. They meet, have sex, get married and then begin to have issues.

Okay, can I do all the output stuff from FCP? I'll definately try that out. I don't like the youtube quality to much either.

Man, I still haven't had a chance to watch, "Who Invented Erika S." yet. I can only watch wmv files at work and it be killin' me!!! Did you have another link anywhere?

Thanks again for the excellent review!

Hi Marlon. Ok, I thought that might be your brother or actually I thought it was you. Hah.

Ok, you have a Mac. Forget what I said and simply export as a high quality .mov using the H.264 codec at at least 2000kbps and use AAC for the sound at 192kbps. I think FCP can output this way, otherwise you export an uncompressed avi and use Quicktime to export that to H.264.

There's a high quality version of Erika Spencer on vimeo. Hopefully you can access it at work.

All filmmakers should just switch to vimeo or at least use both it an the 'tube.

Here's the link:

Okay, I'm gonna' check vimeo out and I'll try that with FCP. I also have compressor.

Actually, I was in chapter 2 of TRANSITIONS. I'm an actor first, I guess. LOL. Okay, I'm checkin' out vimeo right now.

Very impressive! I thought the writing was very good. Very original idea. Actors were believable. Loved the music... I don't really have too many criticisms!

I thought the cinematography was better in some parts than others. I really liked the look in part 2, visually that was probably my favorite. It was also the sexiest. Part 4 was the most dramatic, both actors were very good, particularly the girl. Very convincing. Part 3 was probably the funniest, most lighthearted.

I enjoyed it all. Great job!

Thanks, alot Max. for stopping by. Yeah, a few of the shots I wasn't super happy with (those were the rushed ones) - I may go back and tweek a couple of shots. Glad you liked 'em though. Yeah, my sis-in-law was the girl in the 4th one and this was her first role. Can you believe that??

Thanks, again.
