Finally bought a 100B. Now need advice on accessories.

I've been in the market forever it seems for a camera and have waited until just yesterday to finally pull the trigger on a used 100B with the standard accoutrements.

I've been researching all of the threads on this board and everywhere else on the internet trying to find info on tripods, lavs, etc and what is absolutely essential.

Any recommendations on tripods that won't murder my budget (i.e. <$500)? A local Craigslister has a Bogen 3066 for $450 that looks nice, but I read a post that Barry and others had said it's overkill for the DVX.

I've read a lot of recommendations on the Sennheiser G2 lav. Have seen a few for around $500. Is this a pretty solid setup?

Looking into getting Barry's book, a couple DVXuser batteries, and a UV/Pola as well. Are all UV/pola's essentially the same or is it worth to go Tiffen?

Thanks in advance. This site has been a veritable wealth of useful information.

I just bought barry's book and it came in a few days ago. I'm about halfway through and it's worth the money. As people have said, the dvd was really just a visual reiteration of what was in the book...but if you're just getting familiar with the dvx100, then barry's book is definitely worth every penny.

LOL it came in the mail and I said "I paid $70 for this tiny little book" but now that i'm about 80 pages in, I don't regret it a bit...it's worth the money.

UV filter is to protect your lens from excess UV light, and to protect the lens physically. a polarizer is to cut down on light glare.

Right. I've used them before and are aware of their purpose, I was just wondering if all filter brands are essentially the same, or if it's worth to get a name brand like Tiffen.
