Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 released!

Thanks David, i did visit their site but missed the discount.. spotted it second time around its 50% off the entire suite..

Just gave the 7toX app a whirl with a short FCP 7 project. The process is pretty straight forward, in FCP 7 you simply Export XML, then in 7toX you Locate the Exported XML, it will then ask if you want to send the Project to X to create an XML file readable by FCP X.
The project I brought in transferred very well. A few audio issues, some of the Audio tracks needed to be made Mono (they were Panned center in the FCP 7 project) and the Titles were there, but the font/size was off. Very cool though for $10 - a huge timesaver and the new Keyer in FCP X is fantastic. I just tested with some Reflecmedia material and was blown away - beautiful and simple.

multicam is working nicely so far. it handled syncing multiple clips from my 5DmkII where it would record 12 min then you have to hit record again on the 5D...prior to this update FCPX wouldnt know to put those 2 clips in a continuing sequence but so far this update accomodates multiple cut files although it puts them into seperate layers (tracks). not ideal but still livable. have yet to try all variations of things yet but what ive done works flawlessly.

another very cool thing is you can add CC or an effect to all the individual clips prior to executing your multicam edit and then the finished edit has all effects in place. very very cool.

this is great news for X as this could really be the start of whats coming in the next year or so. still missing lots of things but...if the features get added in a way that makes them considerably more powerful than they were in their initial iteration then the way of doing an old function is now much more powerful and contemporary.

However, Apple uses its customers to beta test, it's been that way for a while. Either get used to it or stop giving them your money.

So true.

If they had waited 7 months and released this as the first incarnation of FCPX then they would probably avoided most of the negative publicity. But as it is they have had 7 months of feedback to work with, and it looks like they have been listening.

Now would be the time for post-production houses to dip their toes back in, and see what makes the most sense for the future....

I must say, I'm really digging this new update, I haven't even tried all the new features such as multi-cam and layered PS files, etc. but I'm really enjoying the small things.

One huge (even though minor) problem I had was that the cursor would stay active during full-screen playback. That drove me crazy as I'd hit full-screen, then pause, then move my curser to a corner, than play again. ugh.

Now not only has this update fixed the problem (should have never been an issue in the 1st place though) but FCPX now automatically darkens my 2nd display once I go into full=screen playback, VERY COOL!!
I'm really impressed with the small details Apple has added in and it seems they are on the right track to get FCPX up to speed.

I've probably sent around 500 crash reports to Apple since I've been using FCPX but so far everything seems more stable and responsive, not quite as responsive as 7 but does feels much better..

Update: Just realized match frame will include original I/O points. YES!!!
I know this is all sounds trivial when FCP7 and earlier had these basic functions but combine these returning features with all the new powerful features X brings to the table and then we are looknig at one serious NLE.

Y'know taking a step back and looking at FCPX it really is amazing that it only costs $300...

Yes and what a deal. Reading forum posts all over the net its funny how Apples misguided roll out has transformed itself into separate camps of fear. Some hate change, some think the word pro only describes avid users, some are just misinformed of what X can actually do. If people would actually use FCP x they'd see a forward looking app that can get the job done for a fraction of the cost. A funny thing because when FCp first appeared being cheaper than others was a complaint of many "pro" editors and when FCp matured people complained it wasn't forward looking enough.

So true on all points.

Just give me the option to use the legacy color wheels for the 3wayCC, and I'm happy

Don't really like the color board.
