Seems like a pretty heavy update:

Multicam
Edit multicam projects faster than ever before with a collection of innovative features that provide unmatched speed and flexibility. Select video and photos, then create a Multicam Clip by automatically syncing different angles based on time of day, timecode, markers, or audio waveforms. Play back multiple angles at once in the customizable Angle Viewer, and use the powerful new Angle Editor to dive into any Multicam Clip and make precise adjustments. You can change, add, or delete camera angles at any time and work with different codecs, frame sizes, and frame rates without conversion. When it’s time to cut your multicam project, simply click in the Angle Viewer or use keyboard shortcuts to switch between angles on the fly.

Advanced Chroma Keying
In addition to using the high-quality, one-step chroma key in Final Cut Pro X, you can now access advanced keying controls for color sampling, edge adjustment, and light wrap. Tackle complex keying challenges without exporting to a motion graphics application. And play back results instantly and in context to make critical editing decisions.

Media Relink
Reconnect media and exchange files with third-party applications using a robust relink interface. Select media that has been moved or modified, or locate clips that have been transcoded, trimmed, or color graded by third-party tools. Then easily relink to your Final Cut Pro X project or Event.

Import Layered Adobe Photoshop Graphics

Import and keep all the object layers from a Photoshop file in a single Compound Clip so you can animate, colorize, and add effects to individual layers while editing in Final Cut Pro X.

XML 1.1

Final Cut Pro version 10.0.3 includes support for exporting basic primary color grades to third-party applications like DaVinci Resolve. In addition, you can import and export audio keyframes and intrinsic effects parameters such as opacity and scale. This improved XML support saves time and reduces creative rework when moving projects and media between applications.

Broadcast Monitoring (Beta)
Output video to an external monitor using third-party PCIe cards or Thunderbolt I/O devices.* Connect to waveform displays, vectorscopes, and calibrated, high-quality broadcast monitors to ensure that your final project meets broadcast specifications. Or send video to large HD screens and projectors so everyone in the edit suite can see the creative process at work. Broadcast monitoring is currently in beta, and we're working with third-party developers to continue to improve it over time.

I don't see it yet under the app store. Anyone else able to play around with it yet?

XML, about freak'in time! im afraid though, ill still probably jump ship.
Wish they could skin the old FCP7 interface, I cant stand the new FCP X setup.

BETA ? This is not a professional approach to an edit system. By the time they get this all fixed most professionals will have moved on.
How is anyone going to trust that they won't revamp the whole thing again in a few years. They may have a chance with students and hobby lobby folks but any professional will be giving them a wide berth until this is a complete system. They really missed the boat on this.

This is a very good move, though it was a long time in coming. However, Apple uses its customers to beta test, it's been that way for a while. Either get used to it or stop giving them your money.

Remains to be seen how far they will take FCPX version 1 until you're required to pay again.

Now all we need is an updated Mac Pro announced very soon.

Wasn't it exactly like this when FCP came out originally?

I thought that wasn't sorted out/running well until FCP 3

Premiere is the same way, any NEW NLE works that way.

That is an interesting point though, about how long it will take before they make you pay again.

I tried to use my Black Magic intensity card, HDMI out to HDMI input on HDTV and it doesn't work. Under preferences and playback AV output menu says no devices found. I updated to the newest software (9.1). I guess it's not supported yet.

This update is/seems fantastic. And it's really encouraging to have software being updated so quickly. This is the 3rd significant update/upgrade to the software since June (in ~7 months). That's a pretty good run.

Manual reconnect, XML, broadcast monitoring, kick-a$$ Multicam, PSD support... Big update!

I used to think this was true, but not anymore. Thunderbolt changes everything. Internal is no longer needed for high performance. Thunderbolt is faster than SATA. All the speed and power performance you need can be had from an iMac that you expand using Thunderbolt.

Now this doesn't negate the need for iMacs with 12cores and 32GB of RAM. Obviously they need to keep high end processing and RAM expandability, but a iMac with that is just as good as a MacPro. Thunderbolt in and out give the rest of the capability that a system might need.

The update looks REALLY nice! I can't wait to try it out.

Did anyone catch the "7toX" app? Supposedly allows you to migrate your FCP 7 projects to X. $9.99 at the app store. I'll be getting this too.

the "undo" doesn't work!! It stays gray.
Plus, I tried to connect a TV to my second graphic card and FCPX doen't not see it.

Looks like it will take some time for 3rd parties to make drivers for it to work:
http://www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut...monitoring-in-1003-matrox-blackmagic-aja#3653

"Video OutputVideo Output requires new drivers for your hardware. As of today only AJA have a beta of their FCP X output drivers available. Blackmagic Design and Matrox are expected to have betas of their drivers shortly. It’s important to note that these drivers are the first ever to be written to the new CoreMediaIO services on OS X. Previous drivers have all been QuickTime based, so this is all new work, not a simple update to drivers as previous versions were. That’s also why the video output is Lion only: only Lion has the foundations in place for the Core services functions needed, and work couldn’t start on the drivers until Lion was out, and a beta version of FCP X was available for hardware companies to work with."
