Search the UK Apple Store or the Belgian one for Mac Pro and an 8 core
Mac Pro configuration is mentioned ... FCP 6 will ship April and Aperture 2.0
probably next week ! Aperture will have video library functions !

If this is true I'm going to kick myself. I just today set up my new MacPro/Kona 3 rig. Not that I'm really complaining... my new set up is pretty sweet and is plenty capable of doing the job (editing HDCAM and DVCPRO HD). It's just it's nice to have the latest and greatest.

The rumor sites report that Apple UK posted a reference to dual quad-core Mac Pro. The page came down very quickly.

Where do you see FCP 6 shipping in April?

My guess is all of this will be available after NAB.. apple has set up a press conference at NAB probably to announce new products such as FCP 6, Maybe Extreme and the new 8 core macs will likely go with this announcement.. I heard apple is going to integrate its own video I/O capture card (like an Apple branded Kona3 type card) as an option for the new systems.. So April 16th... mark it down

edit:
oh yea.. and Leopard 10.5 will either be released before or with this announcement..

i made the test b4 they corrected in the UK and Spain stores and it stated 8-core mac as the rumors sites have written. But it didn't occurred to me to search for FCP 6 or anything, so i can't confirm on that.

Still, 8 core is cool.

Cheers

Hey this relates to FCP 6 but is a little off topic, hope you guys don't mind but once this software is up for sale where (besides the apple store) does it become available at street price? Like for example I was buying my HV20 from amazon for $1099 and because of one of our fine members pointed me in the right direction I got it for $925... is there any place trustworthy that does discounts or should I start telling my brother's sorority to break out their university I.D.'s?
Thanks in advance, glim

Your Brother is in a sorority??? How did he swing that...he's brilliant...Anyway I would not suggest going the academic version route...Your not going to get a lot of people around here suggesting you deceive the system. I am not going to go into the whole software license agreement speech which I am sure you have seen or heard before. Bottom line is that if a couple of hundred dollars is going to make or break you then you really need to reevaluate your business model. Academic pricing is just that for students or those teaching not for professional use.

lol, I even told my wife, baby i'm not sure if I should post this, someone is gonna take me serious:engel017: .
Anyway, even though I was kidding I would like to say that we are all professionals here (or should try to be), and we should all respect each other and the system accordingly until we can't. And by that i'm talking about the exceptions like guerilla filmmaking when you just can't get around that system in order to get the missing sidewalk scene or taking out a loan that you have no idea if you can pay back in order to distribute to those who might fund you... to tell me i'm wrong would be to deny some of the brightest filmmaker's out there exist.
And so a couple of hundred dollars might mean the difference between making me or breaking me, but it could also mean the difference between a rich videographer or a poor rebel without a crew.

Or maybe we should all just lighten up and take a joke:thumbsup:

I thought the joke was that your brother was actually in a sorority....I did laugh at that...That was the joke right???

As for the rest of it could care a less what you do man...if your looking for a deal go for it be legal it or otherwise I'm not going to call the software police on you...hey I'll even tell you to go ahad and check out Ebay for older versions of software and upgrade from there...usually cheaper but let buyer beware some software sold on Ebay might give you a headache in the long run....For example if you buy say Adobe After Effect as part of a Production Bundle you can't just upgrade AE. So looking for that deal could cost you extra in the long run.

Oh and before you go and max out that card on your next production better check with your wife. (that is a joke)

lol, thanks JG, those are some good suggestions. Oh and no, my brother wishes he was in a frat house but I wont let him join, he'd try to borrow my camera to record all the crazy parties and then my chances to break into hollywood would be lost........ ummmm, lol, that, uh, that was a joke.... yea.
