Final Cut Express Importing Help!

Hey Guys,

I got tired of flaky editors...so I finally bought my first Apple! Anyways, I have Final Cut Express (not Pro) installed. I can't seem to import/upload/log and capture/etc the footage?!?

I've seen it be done, and I can't do it!

I'm using an external hard drive where the footage is stored.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or solutions?!?!

I am pretty sure that you cannot do a log and capture with Express, which is real annoying, but thats one reason why the program is cheaper than Pro
 
I might be totally wrong here but I've got FCP 6.X and use it for/with my HVX.... not surprisingly DVCProHD is not supported in iMovie as confirmed when I tried to import some clips on a friends Mac. BUT the interesting this is that DVCProHD DOES work with iMovie on my Mac. I've even edited a short movie (1 minute long!)

It might be worth installing the DvcProHD codec and see what happens... worth a try!
