filter size on CPL

is it fine to get a 67mm CPL then a step ring to my 52mm lens? im saying this cause i also have a 67mm lens. would there be any difference in quality when using it on my 52mm lens?

Regarding regular filters like NDs (aside from grads), there would be no problem.

Not sure the CPL differs in any way, my bet is no.

I also buy for 67mm and use step-downs for every other smaller lens I have.

It's always a good option to buy filters to cover your widest lens and use step rings on smaller lenses.
You might consider 77mm filters if you plan on getting any lenses with a wider front element.

You can use filters as wide as you want of your lens. even square ones on a Matte box, so you are good to go
