Filter for 7-14mm?

Anybody come up with a good way to put filters on this lens without a mattebox? It's actually at its sharpest wide open according to DPreview. I am thinking of ordering a spare front cap, cutting a big hole in it, and gluing in the threads from a UV filter. Thinking it might vignette a bit though. Anyone have any thoughts? Right now I am gonna do some tests and see if the softness from stopping down is really noticeable in video...

There's a DIY solution from Hong Kong here ( with bad translation) using larger filters to minimize vignetting:
