Film Look

As I'm waiting up for Santa Claus. I got to thinking. I can't remember what it was or what it was called.

Isn't there an interface so that you can set up more than one XL2 at the same time with the same settings and through some type of file sharing you could take someone else's scene settings that you liked and you could input those into the camera?

My question is, once this is possible. Could someone take a film stock settings like in Shake and apply those settings to the camera and match the desired film stock?

Re: Film Look

The settings that move from camera to camera are only capable of what the camera itself is capable fo doing in the first place.

It will be interesting to see what will be possible with the software interface to the camera for image control once available.

Re: Film Look

Antoine, in shake you have certain presets for different film stocks.  So you go into filters and go to film grain and it applies the elememts of different Kodak film stocks to your footage to match the film stock that you would have shot the scene with.

Basically if you shot HD and film you can go into shake and match the HD to the film.  I haven't done it but you can even zero in on the parts of the film that you shot and apply it to the HD as well so that it looks you shot it all the same.

You can play with grain size, etc.  Or make 1080 look like 720, etc.

An amazing program that I really need to sit down and learn.  I have the program and the Shake 3 lessons book and DVD.

It seems to be very powerfull, for very big productions.
I looked at the price tag...ouch !...

Re: Film Look

Gary, i think your talking about the SDK for the XL2. from what i understand it will let you download the setting from the camera. and upload it to another. i havt read much about it on the forums. but it will be interesting to see what the interface is like. it would be sweet if you could fine tune those settings on a computer then upload again to the camera.

Thanks Rich, that's what I was thinking about. Just read about it a few moments ago. I guess Canon hasn't released the information yet so that third parties can develop uses for it.

But it would be nice if this rumored DVX100b would include it also. That way if you like Disjecta settings for example you could just import them.
