Hi filmmaker friends,
This forum is invaluable to helping each other out in making better films. I just wanted to say that lately I've been using more Takumar lenses for shoots and they are giving me the look I like. Some call it 'filmic' - and the combination of old lenses and color rendition out of the GH2 gives me great skin tones and just the right amount of softening to look like I pulled the footage from a reel! You've got to watch how far you go in color correction with the codec though - so for me, I try and setup the camera and lighting situations so that I get the best picture possible coming into the camera. This short was shot on both the GH2 and GH13. They cut together quite well. I used Takumar 135 2.5, Takumar 50 1.4, 1.8, and the Panny 20mm 1.7 on steadicam. I found I had to work in post to getting the Panny lens to look like the Tak's clips. Hope this helps those that are looking for a softer, filmier look. For the musicians out there, I composed the music using Logic.
