Film look Grain for the 7D

I think the 7D image suffers form looking a little digital making faces as David Fincher has said look like plastic which the Red manages to avoid. I was looking at Vimeo and found this video, I'm not sure I understand how I can use this process for FCP. So my point is what is the best/easiest way to achieve a film look grain on the 7D's image?

groan, no David Fincher in a well known interview regarding the RED said it dosen't suffer the problem of making faces look plastic (I'm sure he means too digital not organic and natural) unlike other digital cameras. (in his opinion)

Resolution and grain are different things, people shooting on RED often add grain as in boosts the dynamic range in their opinion.

The process shown seems to be for AE and dosen't go into FCP specific detail and anyway this may not be the best and esiest way to add good film grain. ie not a FCP filter but something more effective ie film like if possible.

Doesn't the RED, at least with the new Mysterium-X sensor have way more steps of latitude though? That would probably explain the less plasticky look.

Sony Vegas has a film grain option. Very easy and it works. I don't know if I'd wanna use it though, personally.

i think one of the reasons it gets labeled as having a plastic look is cause a large portion of digital camera owners tend to over expose. Myself included.
If you look at some of the kodak vision 3 footage on kodak's website, even their skin has a pastel plastic look to it. Just because grain is less of an issue no adays and things look smoother doesn't make it plastic ;)

Honestly I cant see why the look in the video that was posted cant be achieved
incamera.....like papa said expose it right and it will look very none plastic.......
I want some built in ND filters for the next firmware upgrade !

I like to add grain to my footage, and yes, at times the 7D looks a little to "clean" for my taste. Here's a teaser for upcoming short... you can see the small amount of grain I added to it...

Wow. That footage looks AMAZING! Congrats!

yeah, looks really nice. I dare say even that is slightly over exposed as well for my taste. The stuff of the woman is beautiful, the stuff of the boys in the forest, their skin is a little bright and lacking detail. Maybe it's just the color grading though. Again, completely subjective.

I add a small amount of grain to everything I shoot on the 7D now. To me it actually cleans up the compression noise in the darks, and takes away some of the plastic quality I also see.

By grain do you guys mean noise? I don't have a "add grain" filter in pp cs3, only thing that gives me animated "grain" is noise.

This looks well shot; the uniforms seem a bit clean though.
