what do you want the flashes for.. effect or some sort of technical reason?

thanks, it´s a pleasure to be at this forum,
about your question, it´s both, an effect and sometimes a technical gimmick, but it´s a commonly used effect thing in music videos, commercials and features, I even shoot at higher frame rates ( 50-75 fps on 16mm / mainly 50 fps on 35mm ) just to get them, so I thought it would be a nice gimmick .
For the technical side, it´s nice so have these flashes ( at least for me ), when I´m logging through footage, it´s very easy to spot a break visually between two takes with these flashes there when no slate is used.
