Hey guys this is my 1st semester film final for the high school i go to. We were required in three weeks to write, shoot, edit the opening sequence to a feature film. Here is what I turned in:

The whole shoot took about 14 hours and about a week in post. We edited with Final Cut Pro and Soundtrack. This was also shot on a HVX200.

The dolly shots near the end were achieved by using my homemade dolly which I build out of pvc pipes, allunimum and skate wheels.

Fun fact i am allergic to cats and the house we shot in well had about 13 cats and 4 dogs so 14 hours filming felt like a lifetime and then some. O we also got the cops called on us when we were filming the outdoor shots cause of the costumes we had on haha.

Any more questions feel free to ask. Besides that tell me what you guys think about it and leave comments below or on my youtube channel thanks much! =)

yea i was gonna ask you about those weapons....did you need a permit to film with them, or need to alert authorities? they looked very realistic

haha the weapons o man! We used metal airsoft guns and painted the tips black not such a good idea but it looked cool haha. What happend is we were driving around in that white car and the neighbors were getting all freaked out cause they didnt know what was going on so they called the cops, and on top of that we had the entire house caution taped so they thought we were like terorists or something. So were Filming our last exterior shot and my actors mom comes runing out of the house screaming "Get inside NOW!" so my boom pole operator drops the boom pole i leave my HVX200 on my tripod still recording and our mock swat guys run into the house.

Two seconds later we se flashing lights and three cops jump out of there car guns pointed and the actors mom runs out and says "dont shoot". During this time all the actors are throwing all the guns in the closet and taking of there costumes. Finally the cops came inside the house and asked to see the guns when we showed them to them they were blown away by their realism haha. Then when it was all over one of the actors asked the cops to hand cuff him and I filmed it!

When the cops show up on your shoot you know your doing something right !
or your going to the Big House

edit:

I read the synopsis on you tube.
Those guys dont look like they're going to investigate they look like teenagers who are gonna get postal (or atleast ask for directions to get postal :) ).

The shot where they close to garage door is slowing down the edit, its get in , seek and destroy . It would have been nice if there the door had closed all by itself , just a thought.

The last scene of the gunmen shooting at the end should have been tighter.

Overall you did a good job.
Next time try to get some smokers so you can get a volumetric effect with the flashlights to add more drama :zombie_smiley:
