GH4 : File Naming Glitch

Last week we shot extensively on two GH4s (1080p @ 100 Mbps) & the editor handling the transcodes noted the last clip on a card, & the first clip on the next card, had the same file name.

Hopefully this is a Firmware 1.0 glitch.

Are they still doing the incremental file numbers starting from 00000? What a pain. I so wish that they would just do the same thing Sony does and name the files with the date and time when the shot started. So easy to implement.

That sounds like a pain indeed. Renaming all files using their date/time is part of my ingest workflow which helps avoid duplicate file names should they ever happen.

This isn't a problem for me in FCPX. When the cards are imported the clips are renamed using the metadata. such a painless ingest process. It even knows how to place all the shots in chronological order if I shot on numerous cards which I usually do.
