FF vs MFT

FWIW, Samsung is entertaining the idea of a 500 MPX sensor because they think it will then match the human eyesight. With the current technology, it'd have to be ~ 350 mm2, which is the APS-C format.

My point about high resolution sub-1" sensor is that they allow for a stupendous reach. Nikon Coolpix P1000 is about eight inches long with a full zoom extension, which gives a 3,000 mm focal length equivalent. At the moment, the camera is somewhat of a novelty but it can easily be turned into a high end product for wildlife/BiF shooters.

100% this. Or should I say 100,000%?

Sorry, Mark. I really liked the video you posted. The variables and pros and cons to all of these solutions is part of the fun of camera work. Thanks for sharing!

The engineering/math side of things is not my natural habitat. My background and activities are definitely more fine arts oriented, thus finding useful technical explanations that are also comprehensible is, ya know, significant.
