Fellini Directs Again!

So you got an offer for your DVX 100 from Nigeria? LOL I had a guy asking me to buy a $62,000 Sony for him. I only talk about 35mm cameras on my site, so I was a little flustered. So I asked him what they were using in Nigeria, PAL or NTSC? He said PAL. I said to him, well, buy directly from Sony. I gave him the link even.

OMG! I so saw this coming. I was like this person is going to give you a Nigerian address. It was by the book too. They offered more than the asking price and wanted to use eBay and would release the money. I said get the $100 for shipping and send that person a copy of Action Filmmaking in a big box. LOL. If they release the actual cash then send them the camera.

Most of them only want the banking information. Once they have that, they go in and try to extort money. Now I just delete every time someone says we'll give you something for free.

And the crazy thing is that they send emails and offer millions to "undisclosed recepient" LOL.

A friend of mine (after I told him my story) said that a guy asked to buy a camera from him. The camera was $30,000. After a few days, my friend noticed there was $60,000 in his bank account. He called the bank and they said, "yes, the money is in there." He went to the bank and found out there was a wire transfer from the camera buyer. So he emailed him and said, "listen, you overpaid." He replied, "oh, it's ok; it was a mistake; just send me the camera and the balance of the money."

So my friend asked the bank, "is this money in there for sure or what?" They said, "well, it was a wire deposit and they credited his account but the money wasn't physically in the bank yet."!!! But since he was a good customer, the bank was willing to give him the money.

That's when he suspected something was wrong. The money never materialized and my friend never sent the camera or the money.

Fellini Directs Again! is about living in a dream world; but here's the rub, the dream world is the new reality. LOL That's why I love Fellini and felliniesque filmmaking. You're enveloping all the demographics in existence. I expect this movie to become the first iPod blockbuster :-)

Fellini Directs Again! will attempt to straddle all demographics and reach out to the world audience in its universal appeal.

I'm being twittered as to festivals. Maybe I'll get an invitation from a major festival as a result of twitter followers. That would be sweet. By the way if you know a festival director who is looking a feature film, please recommend that they consider FELLINI DIRECTS AGAIN! This will be the quintessential felliniesque movie.

Just curious. Will you need permission from Fellini's estate in order to use his name and likeness? or is this a public domain thing

Well, since we're channeling him, we'll have him sign a release on first day of shooting. And if we don't succeed. we'll pretend that he's directing. I haven't figured out how to do it yet. That's what felliniesque is all about.

Fellini said in an interview that he was pleased with the recognition he got when people said that such and such a film was felliniesque. In fact, even in the last Olympics, the floating clowns were called felliniesque.

So, yeah, Fellini is a historical figure -- or you might say, a public domain figure.

But it's a good point you brought up. Do impressionists and impersonators have to seek a release from the estates of the stars they impersonate? I don't think so, by the way.

Fellini Directs Again! is whimsical way of saying that this is going to be a felliniesque movie. The movie has nothing to do with anything biographical with respect to Federico Fellini.

Well, a horror film is supposed to make us feel a sense of revulsion, make us uncomfortable, awaken in us the fear of death and hopefully the will to struggle against evil and face the horrors of just living.LOL

Ok, that's my definition. I know, I know, I'm not the expert in this genre. In fact, I hate horror movies.LOL

But to be honest, felliniesque is a kind of facing of the nightmares of life in a half dream half reality state. I don't want to elaborate too much here because I might expose my ignorance or ... er, lose the magic touch.LOL

felliniesque is also freely commenting on life and not being held accountable for one's point of view ... it's like a having your cake and eat it too style of filmmaking LOL and no-budget digital production is the only way to justify the effort :-) imo, digital was made for felliniesqe...

Fellini Directs Again! could be a huge success if I can get the right people and locations in it. If you have any suggestions as far as costumes and locations, please don't hesitate to spill the beans.

Because it's non-union I'm not getting the big names, like I normally do when I cast for union. I have some spectacular projects, the kind actors drive a hundred miles to audition for; but now that money has dried up, I can only do non-union.

I have some very interesting actors submitting pictures and resumes. Although they're not names yet, they have great potential. They have been in lots of foreign movies and are trying to break into American movies. Since I'm doing essentially a European style movie, these actors are submitting for my project even though it's no pay.

I haven't started auditioning. It usually goes very fast once I begin. It's lightening fast. Some say it's too fast.LOL But I like it like that -- shooting off the cuff. I have 40 years experience shooting movies like this. I've literally exposed over a billion feet of 35mm film so far, so for me directing and editing in my head isn't a problem.

I'm going to start shooting the first week of June and I will start posting trailers and clips right away. Thanks for your interest. I hope you're making progress with your movie, Chris. It's a good one.

Thanks. Looking forward to the scene's you'll be posting.

I'm working on a new trailer. I couldn't get the licensing rights to the music I originally wanted. This is good, because I found more appropriate music and the licensing seems to be going a lot smoother. So I'll be re-cutting my trailers with the new music soon.

A BILLION? Are you sure?

If you worked for 40 years and shot every day of the year that's 68,493 feet per day.

Surely not...? when would you sleep?
