My new trailer (DVX)

So, this is a feature I directed (The Tailor) that we finally finished and plan to release in May. We had an old trailer but have been working on this new one for the new site launching next week. This is in b&w but the final trailer will be in color.

This is almost done but I thought I'd share it for any final tweaks. The score and effects are mostly temp while we finish this... Thoughts?

I gotta say... that looks great. I actually like the black and white but I'm sure it will look slick in color as well.

Well composed trailer, shots, sound... looks top shelf. I'm hooked in by the story. I look forward to seeing this.

Looks fantastic, yes, but...

The issue I had with it is that I still have no idea what the movie is about. Maybe I wasn't paying as close attention as I should have, but I think we need more info on what exactly the story is.

I'm not totally digging the b/w on this for some reason. I was glad when I read that it will be in color.

The opening "flower" shot felt like a company intro, not a film intro. Perhaps start on the shot of the guy carrying the woman...a bit more powerful and starts us off with a LOT of questions (hopefully drawing us in, making us want to watch the film to find out what happened).

There were a couple spots where it seemed a shot was re-shown/re-visited, made me start putting a lot of significance on those shots and subsequently thinking about them longer than they were on-screen. This caused me to be distracted from subsequent shots.

I like the "will it bring us peace" line, and I like the shot...for a film. For some reason, it felt very out of place, visually, in the trailer. I was thinking this line would sound good, near the end, over black. Then flash to some non-peaceful image and immediately cut to black...then show the closing credit screen. (or something like this).

Other than that I really enjoyed it. The images look great, the actors seem like they did a great job. I'm really excited to see the finished film.

Peace,
Larry

Good to see it's finally getting finished Alvarez. I remember when you were shooting. I'll try and dig up some constructive criticism. It looks pretty good though on the first pass.

Cool, thanks. Yeah, we just finished post. We have another week of sound left and it's off to score. Pain in my arse I tell ya! I just wrapped a feature doc though, so my attention is now there, so here we go again :)

Thanks man.

Looking good. For mind about twice as long as it needs to be, as others mentioned - more info on the story.

Looks great man, editing and shot choice were good.

I'll tell you what I got from the trailer. Man looses wife and then goes to get revange, am I right?

Keep up the good work

Yeah that looked pretty clean man... quick question was the part where the lady was on her knees in front of the guy with the gun was that clip just sped up there and slowed back down, how did you achieve that shot? Good editing work as well.

We're slowly making adjustments. Looking better?

Thanks again for all the suggestions guys, it's helping a lot!

Music by The Black Heart Procession? Count me in! :)

This looks excellent. I agree that maybe a little more information in the trailer would definitely be good. The shots look excellent though, and it appears that the acting won't be a let down either.

Ah yes, The Black Heart Procession is doing our score, my personal favorite part of the film :)

Thanks, we're revisiting the 'story' concerns by the way.

Joe Estevez? Thats awesome!! He looks just like his brother. I had to watch that part twice and still thought it was Martin.
