Feels like 1990 for me

Having been in pro-audio for some decades I wonder if I´m the only one to see the similarities to the audio gear market around 1990.

Until then you only had huge tape machines costing 100k and up for multitracking audio.

Then (slowly) came ProTools, Tascam, etc..........

It's interesting...I feel the same. Not precisely considering the audio stuff but the video introduction as for instance the Hi8 -- Sony V5000 was my choice then. I had coming from the Super 8, now from the Super 16 or 35mm... Though as director/producer not as techie like a DP or anyone else, like the experts that have been writing here since the RED beginning (or even before from the HVX advent). But definitely learning with you guys.

I think you pegged it Josch.. things really are about to change.. Pro quality affordable tools that not only come close to the $100,000 counterparts, but surpass it.

This concept is a relatively common and understood one - the audio world tends to lead the pattern of technological trends, followed by that of still imaging and lastly motion picture. This is usually the case because of the amount of data that has to be dealt with in each of those situations. If you look at the systems that are in place for recording, editing, authoring, and outputting content in these cases, there is a clear archetype that has been emulated by each of these categories of for decades.

Yep. Moore´s law should give you the spec of 2015´s RED5.
