Edit:

Uploaded a new file, works better for me. Less Fuzzy Magic Bullet (you were all right)

Still essentially the same.

I posted a press release a while back but didn't have any footage to share so I thought I'd throw together something.

Audio is sketchy at best and no FX work has been done, (still several months off).

Anyway

Hey I liked that it was pretty spooky .. I liked the effect of the house in the beginning and also the girl coming down the stairs... looks very interesting... keep up the good work..
Was that the dvx100 or 100a you were using?

Pretty cool. The fuzzy Magic Bullet filter got a little irritating as the trailer went on. And I'll admit I spaced out when the Juon/Grudge shot showed up but the guy's dialogue brought me back into it. Nice little chuckle. The last shot with the ghost/zombie was cool too.

Wisconsin has the most reported hauntings because it has the most drunken farmers. J/K  I lived in Wisconsin for 11 years and my friend used to swear up and down the farm house across from him was haunted.

Yes well...just because someone sees a ghost while their drunk doesn't mean there wasn't a ghost...right? :)

DVX100a
CO wide angle
No major post has been started...so Magic Bullet was used as a quick option to CC for this purpose. Fuzzy but effective for a short clip.

Oh yes I remember this from waaay back. I'm looking forward to this. That is a spooky trailer; you have my attention!

Very nice. I agree w/ the fuzzy/soft MB looking filter. I think the shots would have been more spooky without them. Nice makeup! The trailer flowed well, look forward to seeing this one.

looking spooky.. i too thought the glow was a bit much, but once the dead people started showing up I was thinking to myself, I hope this guy isnt making a zombie movie or else he will whip me.
Brian

Magic bullet point taken. :)
I'm not a fan of MB (I think it's completely overused)...but because no post work was started on this project...I needed to throw something on the clips to bring out the hightlights on the night shots...and make it a little more dreamy.

Thanks for the responses. It's the first feature I was hired to direct...I did the original reel to secure financing a while ago...and it's nice to have it in the can. Looking forward to sharing the complete peice with you all.

Heh...

Well...I fought the stairway shot tooth and nail...but the producers wanted a japanese flavor, (it's in now...and offers the biggest return...damn money people:) )

On the flip side...Ju-on looks an awful lot like the ringu...which every american film is emulating right now. I don't see it as a bad thing...it is a disturbing visual, (but will be dated in several years).

at 40 seconds, the shot of the girl with red hair in the tub.....that looked really good.... othrwise the magic bullet thing overdone....

i'm gonna be the rotten apple.

I guess I'm a little early because I am already getting sick of this type of character (dead girl with black hair, gaping mouth, always crawling around)
It looked nice, just seems over-used. :undecided

anyways, best of luck!

Ok, lots of blood, lots of gore... Same cliche horror flick... Looks pretty good though... Some shots look very "video"... Good luck!

Yep...it's very cliche...but should have a few good scares. As it's going direct to video next year, you can imagine that post production hasn't even begun, (the bulk of which I'm not even doing)

That being said...which shots look very video? I threw this together from first takes as I havent even gone through all the dailys...so If something does stand out...I'd make a note of it.

Music is just temp scoring from...I think Gothika...with sfx added for good measure.

As for the rotten apple...don't sweat it man. Each to his own. I got paid...and there's a distribution deal...so I already had my luck. I do agree with you though...it will be dated in not too long, but there are enough people that are just discovering the genre to warrant "one more" entry. Either the producers are idiots or market savvy...we'll see.

Thanks again for all your comments.
