I am dumb, I can't find it...

Quick question Barry, you mentioned earlier in the thread about the ability to change the H/PHONE MODE. I can't seem to fine it in the menu, can you (or anyone ) point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I addressed it in the other thread -- the DVX200 is slightly different, it doesn't have that menu option, instead it has two separate audio jacks, one that is live (headphones) and one that is delayed (AV OUT).

Sorry I have to disagree , there is some sort of processing / delay going on, (yes the audio is in sync with the video Record to the SD card, but Not SDI -HDMI out)
There is some lag in the SDI/HDMI output, yes. In my testing it looks to be about 3 to 4 frames of lag -- certainly enough to notice lip sync errors.

But there is also an audio output jack that has the audio delayed to match (or, if there's audio on the monitor you're watching, you'd find that the audio is sync'd there too).

Easy way to get an idea test it with a external screen and listen to the talent talking with your ear ( not Headphones) but watch the external screen. If you have a solution I would love to know.
There is no solution, other than to use noise-isolating headphones and put the headphones in the AV OUT jack; that way you'd see the video and hear the audio perfectly sync'd. But if the live audio intrudes into your headphones, you'll hear an echo.

@Barry you say there is a delay looking to 3 / 4 frames , yes it's true, so in my world Like today I turn up at a job, boxing ring gig, 2 camera shoot, projecting to 4 live screens, so we set everything up, 2 cameras SDI into the switcher, the audio was coming to the switcher from the audio desk, So I tested both Sony EX3, looks fine on a the tight shot of the ring announcer , look ok,so I wip out the Panasonic , and straight away we all can see that it's out f sync. On a sales note, that's 12 crew that see how bad the Panasonic looks, with the delay will not purchasing one. (Then how ever many they tell about what they seen the delay was like) I personally think if they put SDI on a camera it should preform correct, after a year of frustration I feel like sending them back to Panasonic for a refund. But I like the camera, I am not sure how much power you have , but it would be something that should be raised.

I said before (borrowing from someone else...probably paraphrasing Barry Green in one of his videos): DVX200 is a complicated computer with a camera built around it. It compromises a lot to be able to do everything it does, as well as it does, for the price that it is. Sony EX3 doesn't have a 5K CMOS sensor and doesn't deliver 12 stops of dynamic range in a logarithmic profile. Etcetra, etcetra. That 3-4 frame delay is part of the compromise. But not all cameras are alike, anyway. Lots of cameras display latency. That's why the broadcast industry has invented devices like delay boxes to sync video and audio in situations like that. I'm pretty sure the designers of DVX200 knew about the delay when the camera was being engineered and it was part of the compromise of having that computer take all the elements of the camera built around it to make it all work. All that processing to get the best image out of that configuration and to keep the price below US$5k...it's staggering. I can live with the delay. It has never been an issue for my applications. I do see it being an issue when married to a live switch situation with other cameras whose delay is ~1 frame...that 3-4 frame delay would be extremely noticeable! I don't think it's anything that could be "fixed" and is simply a quirk...one that can be a pain in the right situation. Only thing I can think of is get a delay box to sync the other cameras and audio to the DVX200.

EX3 is an HD-only camera that cost twice what the 4K DVX does. So they could afford different, higher-performing components in it. The DVX200 is half the price, and deals with 4x the picture information. So there's compromises in that equation, and the SDI/HDMI lag is apparently one of them. It's a hardware issue, the GH4 has it, the GH5 apparently has it, the UX90 and UX180 all have it. Whatever current chipset they're using, seems to impose that lag. It also delivers extremely sharp/clear/clean 4K at a low price point, so that's got to be why they're using it.

Lag is not a good thing, nobody likes it. But for some, it will be a non-issue, while for others it may be a dealbreaker. Each buyer has to determine the impact for themselves, and weigh it against the other features and price point of the cameras.

JRJ's suggestion of a delay box might be a cheap and easy way to integrate the two together and work around the lag issue.

Thanks, I use a Tricaster and it has a Audio Delay setting that is used. But we only use the cameras as a record, anything to screen is the EX3. Thanks for the input, Now can we get the WB on screen to display what it's set to on A & B , I think that will make a lot of people happy, surely that only a firmware update down the track .

Personally, I've been using the DVX since I bought it in Nov 2015 and while the lag and a few other minor niggles bothered me at the start, now I'm completely used to it and don't even notice it anymore.

Yes, I see the same, after training and the book of Barry Green, I am very satisfied.
The Zunow WFK-95 has brought me more wide angle with preservation of the resolution.
Only the internal recording on 10 Bit 4. 2. 2 would be still such a wish.
