GH2 Feature Film Teaser for Splitting Bethany - Shot on GH2

OldCorpse, nice job! So, for your next film which one will it be? The GH2 or GH3?

Erm, I think you meant to address this to Noam! FWIW, I'll be using both on my next project, but I think you meant to ask Noam, and indeed, he has tested the GH3, if you read his blog (and he posted here about it as well), so let him answer.

Cliff Martinez eh?

Yup! I really love the Drive soundtrack and our composer is scoring the film in that style, very ambient, texturized kind of feel. It won't be ready for about a month so I've used this for my web version of the trailer.

Thanks OldCorpse - If it was between the two cameras, I would choose the GH3 over the GH2 as the A camera, because I do feel it is better all around, has added features like 1080/60p and is easier to grade. With that said, I doubt the final product would end up looking much different, it just might be slightly easier to achieve the same look and get a mariginally better result.

My next feature which will be shot in the late summer and will be properly funded (unlike my previous 2) will be shot on the Blackmagic camera and I'll likely use the GH3 as a B-Cam.

Holy Crap!

The trailer totally had me hooked. This looks like a heartbreaker. Personality disorder, addition and loss of a child; just wondering...is the wife suffering from postpartum depression?

Again, looks great and congrats.

What can I say? Amazing. I really liked the trailer, but reading that you not only directed and shot at the same time, you also did light and grip? When doing corporate gigs, you get used to "over-specialisation" and when approaching personal projects that´s hard to let go. How can I shoot my features without at least to PAs? Second unit would be nice too, just in case...
Of course I read Rebel Without A Crew back then, but it puts the focus on the stress of running a one man show. I guess your shoot wasn´t fun and games either, but you don´t complain.
Very much appreciated. Keep us posted.

Thanks! She is actually supposed to be suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder and much of the film focuses on her pregnancy and her husbands attempt to ensure the child is born.

Many Thanks Spartacus. You're right, these days it is easy to get used to doing everything yourself and in these scenarios it can actually be a good thing... Although there is always a limit where it may take away from your overall focus and vision of the film if you aren't careful!

Our location sound guy was really great. He had some vintage shotgun mics he was using but nothing overly fancy in terms of other gear. Everything was run through a basic field mixer and went into a zoom. I'll try to get some more details for you as I'm not sure what he used specifically. I was also really happy with the results.

I appreciate it! Looking forward to anything that you can tell me about the audio for sure. It's amazing what can be done with such a small crew. How are you planning on releasing the film? Straight to VOD or to a festival first?

As of now we would like to hit some festivals with it first and see where that takes us. I've done a lot of research into VOD and self distribution for my last feature, so that will be helpful should we need to go down that path. I'll be utilizing a festival consultant this time to help streamline the process of applying to festivals so we're not shooting blindly!
