just got a 50mm 1.8 FD lens from ebay , waiting for the ciecio7 adaptor to turn up... as i am new to FD lens, this may seem a daft question but when i twist the F stop ring should i see the iris open and close while lens is NOT attached to anything? or will it only open and close via the Fstop ring when its attached to something???

although mr ebay says it was mint , i'm not sure if its bust???

to others who ordered the ciecio7 Fd-micro 4/3 adaptor via ebay , how long did it take to arrive??

cheers in advance.

Yes, since it is a manual lens, when you twist the aperture ring you show see it open and close without it being connected to anything.

ok thanks ajamils .. seller says it has to be connected/mounted before u see the iris blades open and close :( seems i may have a dud.

The seller is correct and the previous poster wrong. Once you connect it to the adapter, the apeture blades will move.

You can simulate the lens being attached by pushing down on one of the levers, but it's tough. Wait until you have the adapter and test again.

But without the adapter you cannot change the apeture.

Sorry, I take that back. stoneinapond is correct, I did not realize that I had the adapter connected to FD lens when I checked the lens (to answer your question earlier).

If you have an old rear lens cap cut a hole in the back of it and install it correctly on the lens. Then you can activate the aperture lever and look at the blades open/close.

WRONG!!! When you attatch the lens it presses down that little metal pin, thats what activates the blades to move.
