GH2 FCP7/GH2 Problem! need help asap!

I own a gh2 and I was doing test matching the hpx and gh2 and Now when i goto Log and transfer in the FCP window I cant Transfer the clips
I get a red stop sign with exclamation mark.

any ideas?!??!?!

the clips play back fine in the camera.

Are you able to remove the memory card and copy/paste the videos into a folder on your desktop? If not, you can at least rule out FCP being the issue.
 
For the GH2 material, it's been awhile since I've used Log and Transfer but I know that the "PRIVATE" folder needs to be intact. These days I use 5DtoRGB, and it has no reliance on the folder structure created by the camera - you just drop in the MTS files. You can get the regular version for free (and use a script to batch them) or buy the Batch version on the App Store. Another similar option is MPEG Streamclip. I prefer 5DtoRGB, but both are typically better options than FCP Log and Transfer.
 
thanks for the advice, I downloaded 5dtoRGB and I was able to transcode the files to proress ect.. but why cant i log and transfer in fcp anymore?

Exif data not found

Exif data couldn't be read. Since the start timecode is derived from this data, you'll need to either specify it yourself or use the default value.

You can disable this warning in "Preferences."


thats what it says when i open the mts files on 5d.
 
just to chime in, as previously stated, the ENTIRE "private" folder from your memory card must be intact. From there, FCP can usually read everything and import.
Typically, I copy the ENTIRE memory card as a whole (NO NAME: private, DCIM, MISC). Then transfer those into FCP 7 without any issues.
If you purchases 5DtoRGB and you can batch, id stick with that "transcoding" workflow as you will get more from your footage. (it takes longer this way, but you get better results)
 
i guess what im tryin to ask is why all the sudden is fcp not allowing me to log n trasnfer..

very frustrating.
 
Hello, looking forward to buy a GH2, I got one GH1 and a hpx 171. Planing to mix in works three. Any sugestions? I think the GH2 will be more detailed camera and less plain, so I think I should avoid CInema D in 171. Normally I will start choosing 100 max latitud LPowell settings en GH2.
